The cloth
100% washed linen. It is soft from the first wear and softer after every one. It creases, and it will keep creasing. A linen dress worn all day looks like a linen dress worn all day, and that is the point of it. Cut in any of our thirty linens: pick the colour on this page, or choose Custom and name it in your order note.
The fit
Nothing is cut before you order it. Choose a size from the guide, or choose Custom and send your bust, waist, hips and height in the order note and we cut the pattern to those numbers. A shorter hem, a longer sleeve, a higher neckline: ask in the same note. The custom fit and the changes are both free.
Care
- Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a little mild detergent. Hand wash if you prefer.
- Hang to dry in the shade. A low tumble is fine; high heat shortens the life of the fibre.
- Iron on the reverse while the cloth is still slightly damp, or leave the creases. We leave them.
- Wash with like colours for the first few washes.

Sizes XS to 4XL. Made to measure costs nothing extra: send your bust, waist, hip and height and we cut the pattern to those numbers. Length, sleeve and neckline changes are free too. A soft cotton voile lining is free on request, and we recommend it on white and the palest linens.

Questions people ask
Will it fit me?
Choose a size from XS to 4XL, or choose Custom and send your bust, waist, hips and height in the order note. We cut the pattern to those numbers instead. The custom fit costs nothing extra and takes no longer.
Does it have pockets?
No pockets on this one. If you would like them added, ask in the order note before we cut and we will do it at no charge.
How does it fit through the body?
Relaxed. Nothing here is cut tight. If you want it closer or looser, say so in the order note and we cut it that way.
How long is it?
To the ankle. Choose Custom and send your height if you would rather it sat higher or lower, which costs nothing.
What weight is the linen?
Mid-weight, 165 to 180 gsm. Heavy enough to hang and hold a crease rather than cling to you. If you ask for a lining we cut the piece in our lighter linen instead, 125 to 134 gsm, with a soft cotton voile lining attached.
Is it see-through?
The mid and deeper linens are not. White and the palest shades can be in strong light, which is why we do not recommend white unlined. A soft cotton voile lining is free on any piece: ask for it in the order note and we cut it in the lighter linen with the voile attached.
Will it shrink?
No. The cloth is washed before it is cut, so the shrinking is already done. Wash it cool and line dry and it will keep its size. The one thing that will shrink it is a tumble dryer on high heat for more than half an hour.
How tall is the model?
Five foot ten in the newest photographs, and five foot six to five foot seven in the earlier ones. She wears a size S in all of them, so a hem that sits at mid-calf on her will sit lower on you if you are shorter.
Can I have it in a different colour?
Yes. Any style can be cut in any of our 39 linens at the same price. Pick the linen on this page, or choose the custom colour option and name the one you want.
How long until it arrives?
Seven to fifteen days from order to delivery, anywhere we ship. Nothing is cut before you order it, so a few of those days are the making. Shipping is free and you get a tracking number the day the parcel leaves Jaipur.
Can I return it?
Within thirty days of delivery, unworn and unwashed with the tags on. Write to us first so we can send the return address. Return postage is yours. A piece cut to your own measurements cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty.
How do I wash it?
Machine wash cool on a gentle cycle and line dry. It will soften with every wash. Iron it damp if you want it smooth, or leave it, which is what linen is for.
